Posted by Melody — I almost hesitate to review the Buxhall Crown, as I would love to keep it secret and therefor all to myself. This warm and cosy pub has an open fire and welcoming staff and serves food which is so good it almost seems at odds with the relaxed surroundings. Fabulously presented, locally sourced delicious meals with a seasonal menu. The head chef is obviously passionate about what he does, I asked about a dish and he popped out of the kitchen to tell me all about the ingredients and techniques. He also offered to cater for my dairy intolerance, and a lot of their food is gluten free because they cook everything from scratch. He even said that he could cook vegan food, so there's somewhere to take that problematic relative. The food isn't "slug and lettuce" cheap, with main courses between £8 and £16, but I see they've just started a two courses for £10 special offer, so I would definitely recommend you go try it. Just don't book all the tables, I want one! |

Gorgeous food! My husband and I dined at the Crown in the summer and had the duck which was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. At first I thought that the portions did look smallish, but then after I had eaten, I was very happily satisfied and couldn't manage the desert. A lovely calm atmosphere with very nice staff. A perfect place for a special meal. Later in the week I did eat out at another pub in Stowmarket, and although filling it was definately the proverbial "pub grub". I couldn't help but compare the quality of the two meals. Adam and his team at the Crown win hands down on the food stakes! Thank you for a superb meal, we will be back! I recommend this public house for food, ambience and setting. |

Superb Food Visited here four times over as many years and the food has never been less than excellent. This weekends trip was not different - three courses for everyone and not a drop left. My pheasant was the best I've ever had and that's including several I've had in top London restaurants. As mentioned in the main review the Malva pudding is a staple of the dessert menu, and well worth having if you've not had it before, but they're all good. |

Great food at the Buxhall Crown I chose this pub on the strength a good review elsewhere and how right that person was A fine food pub in pleasant surroundings, the menu is extensive, the service is good, the food presentation is excellent and the food is wonderful. My duck was cooked to perfection and the Malva pudding was the most amazing steamed pudding I have ever eaten. It was such a good evening we will be making a return visit very soon. |

Continuing improvements at The Crown In Buxhall I have dined at the Crown several times so far this year and have no word of criticism. Since first finding the place under previous management the new owners Barry, front of house, and Adam in the kitchen, have brought things up to the highest standard. Every meal I have tried has been excellent and whilst the quantities are not enormous they are always enough, so nothing wasted and appetite satisfied. Wine selection not vast but sufficient for a country pub. Wish them both, and their friendly staff, continuing success and will definitely be re-visiting when next I'm in that part of the country. |
| It's probably safe to say that the Buxhall Crown doesn't get much passing trade - A marvellous pub in the Suffolk countryside - well worth a visit - just make sure you set out with a map or a gps. Been here probably half a dozen times in the last three years, usually meeting up a group of friends/relatives. The food is always excellent, made from top quality ingredients, different stuff every time as you order off the board. Service is good too, a friendly local bunch. Not going to be the cheapest meal you ever had, but it's excellent value for the quality. Difficult to pick out anything for special mention as it's all so good |
